Carmelus It publishes original scholarly articles on theology, especially spirituality and Mariology, and history; it also includes editions of texts and reviews.

The Annual Carmelite Bibliography, begun in 1953, seeks to provide comprehensive information on what has been published by Carmelite authors or on Carmelite subjects in general.

Premise The magazine Carmelus It is the official periodical publication of the Institutum Carmelitanum and deals with spiritual theology, Mariology, and history, particularly in relation to Carmelite spirituality and tradition.

Articles dealing with Sacred Scripture, morality, psychology, or interreligious dialogue may also be accepted, provided they have direct reference to Carmel and its spiritual tradition.

Furthermore, in the second issue of the Journal the Bibliographia Carmelitana Annualis, that is, the bibliographic review of publications relating to Carmel or by Carmelite authors published during the year preceding the year of publication.

The members of the Scientific Committee of the Institutum Carmelitanum, the editors of the Journal, the collaborators, the reviewers and the authors participate in this mission free of charge.

Authors' Duties The Author guarantees the originality of his/her own works and undertakes to correctly cite the publications of others that have had some influence on the conduct of the research.

Authorship of articles submitted to the Journal must be acknowledged by all those who have made a significant contribution to the conception and conduct of the research, as well as to the drafting of the manuscript. In the case of joint articles, each co-author must be properly identified and must have approved the final version of the manuscript before submission to the Editorial Staff, giving explicit consent for publication.

Submissions must not include copyrighted material. Plagiarism, fraudulent misrepresentation, or knowingly inaccurate statements are unacceptable.

Submitting the same article to multiple journals simultaneously is not permitted. Authors are required to declare any conflicts of interest that might influence the results obtained and their interpretation.

In the event that the Author finds serious inaccuracies in the text of the published article, which may undermine the scientific accuracy of the study, he/she is required to notify the Editorial Staff of the Journal or the Publisher and to collaborate in the correction or retraction of the error.

Duties of the Editors The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Staff of the Journal are bound by applicable laws regarding privacy, defamation, and copyright. The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Staff are recognized for their full discretion in deciding whether to publish submitted articles, which will be evaluated solely on the basis of their content, without any discrimination based on the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, scientific, or political affiliation.

All members of the Editorial Staff and those involved in the evaluation and publication process are bound to the strictest confidentiality regarding the submitted unpublished texts and their authors and may not use the information contained therein for personal purposes.

The Editorial Staff also undertakes to report to the Authors any errors, inaccuracies, risks of plagiarism, or conflicts of interest, in order to promptly clarify the matter.

Duties of Auditors Articles are subject to double peer review. Reviewers collaborate with the Editorial Staff and assist them in making decisions regarding the publication of submitted unpublished manuscripts, while also helping authors improve their scientific contributions.

Each reviewer is required to meet the deadlines set by the Editorial Staff and, if they feel unable to complete their assigned task due to lack of time or lack of skills, they must promptly notify the Journal's Editor-in-Chief. Unpublished manuscripts submitted to reviewers must remain strictly confidential and may not be passed on to third parties for review unless prior authorization is obtained from the Editorial Staff.

The review must be conducted objectively, free from personal judgment of the manuscript's author. The reviewer's report must be clear and adequately motivated.

Reviewers are also required to report to the Authors any overlooked bibliography in the manuscripts assigned for review and any substantial similarities with incorrectly cited works by others, in order to avoid the risk of plagiarism.

The information obtained during the review process must remain confidential and cannot be used for any personal purposes by the Reviewers.

Reviewers must promptly inform the Journal Editor of any conflicts of interest arising from collaborative or competitive relationships with the manuscript's author. This Code of Ethics has been approved by the Scientific Committee of the Institutum Carmelitanum and is subject to review and approval every three years.
